
Mechanical Royalty stamps (ex 78rpm records). In 1925 the main Australian issuers) Allan & Co, L.F. Collin, D. Davis & J. Albert & Son) issued a similar series of stamps for use on records intended for sale in New Zealand.
They were printed in England by Harrisons. Unusually for the time, the stamps displayed no figures of value. there ere two distinct shades of the Allan & Co, and the J. Albert & Son is found in both perf 15x14 and 14x15. A set for Australia was in concurrent use, but printed in red where these are green, and green where these are red.
Issued to to show the payment of composer's royalties and affixed to the labels of the records. Because of this use, the stamps normally show some minor damage.
