In 1940 Hays Department store in Christchurch issued a series of 50 poster stamps depicting the history of steam trains in New Zealand. One stamp was given for every 2/6 spent, and a special album was produced to hold the stamps.
These are now very popular with collectors. A November 1997 dealers price list had individual items for NZ$30.
