Des Hurley FRPSNZ RIP

We are saddened to report the sudden death of long-term member, and Fellow, Des Hurley, on 13th January 2012.

 

Des was the Society's Librarian between 1985 and 2002, and published the first comprehensive listing of our Library.  He received the Collins Award in 1989 and was elected as a Fellow in 1992.

 

The Society had published two of his Bibliographies, on NZ Military Postal History, and on Cinderellas, and a third on Pigeon Post is in preparation.

Des's funeral was held at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Throndon, Wellington, 1:30pm Friday 20th January.  Our sincere condolences to his family.
