Occasional meetings are held elsewhere in New Zealand.
The Society has a selection of awards and honours which it may confer.
Fellowship Any member of the Society who has done outstanding original research work which has been published for the benefit of philately, or has performed meritorious service for the advancement of philately may become a Fellow of the Royal Philatelic Society of New Zealand and append the letters FRPSNZ after their name. Council will consider applications in the form of a philatelic CV forwarded by a proposer, who must also be a member of the Society. If deemed suitable, the CV is passed to a voting panel of the 10 most senior New Zealand-based Fellows who will vote.
Collins Award Named in honour of the late R.J.G. Collins RDP FRPSL FRPSNZ who contributed a vast amount of the published knowledge of local philately, it is awarded for excellence in a paper published by a member of the Society in an appropriate philatelic journal or handbook on some aspect of philately pertaining to New Zealand or its past and present dependencies.
Rhodes' medal Named in honour of the late Sir Robert Heaton Rhodes RDP FRPSL FRPSNZ, a past President of the Society and Postmaster General. It is awarded to a member of the Society who has made an outstanding contribution to New Zealand Philately and who has been a member for not less than five years. Only four have been awarded since its inception in 1967.
