Welcome to the RPSNZ

The postal administrations of Kenya, Uganda and Tanganyika were amalgamated on 1st January 1933. Tanganyika achieved independence on 9th December 1961. The collection features internal mail, surface mail, short paid mail and travelling Post Offices. World War II censorship of mail is illustrated by Civil Censorship, Military Mail and POW and Internees mail. Rates changed many times during this period, as did airmail routes due to new air services, and WWII. A few examples of forerunners and post independence issues are also shown.
